The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has unveiled a roadmap to select its flag bearer for the upcoming Kikuube District LC5 chairperson by-election following the death of Peter Banura.

Speaking after a district conference in Kikuube, NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson Tanga Odoi said the party has begun internal processes to identify a replacement candidate in line with party procedures and national electoral laws.

“We have come to abide by the law, which requires us to get a replacement within a specified timeframe,” Odoi said. “Peter Banura was our flag bearer, and we must now conduct primaries to get a new one before facing other political parties and independent candidates.”

The development comes ahead of the by-election organized by the Electoral Commission of Uganda, as parties prepare to field candidates to replace the late district chairperson.

NRM’s move signals the start of political activity in Kikuube, with internal party primaries expected to determine who will carry the party’s flag in the race.
