The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Director of Communication and Publicity, Hon. Emmanuel Lumala Dombo, has called on voters in Kalangala District to support the ruling party’s candidate in the forthcoming Woman Member of Parliament by-election, while commending President Yoweri Museveni for introducing oil palm cultivation in the island district.

Dombo joined NRM mobilisation teams on Buggala Island and met residents at Kaazi-Malanga Landing Site in Bujumba Sub-county as part of ongoing campaigns for the party flag bearer, Idah Nabayiga.

Addressing residents, Dombo said the NRM was seeking renewed support from the people of Kalangala, citing the government’s development interventions in the district, particularly the oil palm project, which he said has transformed livelihoods and boosted household incomes for many families.

He thanked residents for their continued support of the ruling party and urged them to vote for Nabayiga, arguing that her election would strengthen the district’s representation and ensure continued access to government programmes.

Dombo noted that the oil palm initiative has become one of the most visible economic projects in the district, creating employment opportunities and improving the local economy through increased agricultural production and investment.

The NRM official also emphasized the importance of maintaining political stability and working closely with government to accelerate development in the island district.

The Kalangala Woman MP by-election has attracted significant attention from political parties, with campaigns intensifying as polling day approaches. NRM leaders remain confident that their candidate will secure victory, pointing to the party’s strong support base and the impact of government development projects in the district.

Residents who attended the meeting welcomed the engagement and listened to the party’s message as campaign activities continued across various parts of Kalangala.

The by-election is expected to test the strength of political parties in the district, with candidates making final efforts to win over voters before they head to the polls.
