The Government Chief Whip and National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Denis Hamson Obua, presided over the passing-out ceremony of 1,400 students who completed patriotism training at Lira Technical College in Lira.

Obua attended the event as Chief Guest and commended the leadership of the patriotism programme for their dedication to shaping responsible and informed citizens. He particularly praised the programme’s leadership headed by Seku Hellen for their commitment to equipping young Ugandans with knowledge about the country’s history and nurturing a strong sense of patriotism.

According to Obua, patriotism training plays a vital role in strengthening national unity and building a generation that appreciates Uganda’s journey toward peace and stability.

Four Pillars for National Development

Addressing the graduates, Obua delivered a message anchored on four key pillars: patriotism, community development, ideology, and leadership.

He urged the students to remain committed to patriotism by prioritizing national interests above personal interests and actively contributing to the development of their communities.

On community development, Obua encouraged the graduates to participate in initiatives that uplift local communities and improve livelihoods, noting that sustainable national progress begins at the grassroots level.

Regarding ideology, he emphasized the importance of young Ugandans understanding the guiding principles that have shaped the country’s stability and development. He noted that appreciating the nation’s history and ideological foundation helps citizens safeguard the peace and unity achieved under the leadership of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Speaking about leadership, Obua reminded the graduates that leadership is defined not by titles but by the ability to inspire, guide, and serve others with integrity. He encouraged them to become agents of positive change in their communities through discipline, hard work, and commitment to the common good.

Call to Serve the Nation

Obua congratulated the 1,400 graduates for successfully completing the training and challenged them to serve as ambassadors of patriotism, unity, and national transformation across the country.

The ceremony marked another milestone in ongoing patriotism training programmes aimed at equipping young Ugandans with the mindset, values, and knowledge necessary to contribute to Uganda’s peace, development, and wealth creation agenda.
